Sitara Devi had four marriages. Mr Desai was her first spouse, and nothing is known about him. Her second spouse was actor Nazir Ahmed Khan. There was also a significant religious divide, with Khan being a Muslim and Sitara Devi being a Hindu. Sitara Devi's third marriage was to film-maker K. Asif. This marriage also did not last very long, and it was childless. After her third divorce, Sitara married Pratap Barot, a Hindu gentleman of Gujarati heritage.
