Pakistani batter Ahmed Shehzad recently lost his calm over the question on a controversial catch appeal that he did in the past. For the unversed, Ahmed Shehzad dropped a catch in a one-day international (ODI) match against Sri Lanka in 2015. However, despite dropping the catch, Ahmed Shehzad had appealed for the catch after pointing out that the ball had never reached the ground and was instead lodged between his biceps and forearm. Although the Pakistani cricketer has opened up in the past over the controversial catch appeal, this time he seemed infuriated over the question after a Pakistani Sports show host accused Shehzad of acting on a lighter note.
Ahmed Shehzad who is part of the panel at Pakistani show Hansna Mana Hai along with Mohammed Amir and Rashid Latif expressed his anger over the question. Show host Tabish Hashmi carried forward a fan's question about whether the cricketer wants to change anything that happened in the past in terms of cricket. Shehzad could not answer the question. Thereafter, Tabish Hashmi took a dig at Shehzad pointing out the cricketer's controversial appeal of the catch during Pakistan vs Sri Lanka ODI match in 2015.
Tabish Hashmi said, "You did something after the catch despite it being dropped."
Visibly upset with the question, Shehzad said, "Yaar iski meme bana dia karo khuda ka vaasta." Shehzad meant to point out that Tabish Hashmi asked such question to become viral on social media through memes. Responding to it, Aamir said, "It is their bread and butter."
Tabish Hashmi again continued, "Okay this is my bread and butter but it was not yours. Then, why were you acting to take the catch?"
Shehzad then said, "Who did acting? Who told you that I acted to catch the ball?"
Tabish Hashmi responded, "Wahab Riaz!"
Thereafter, Shehzad said, "You are saying such a big thing. Sitting here and you are making such a big statement that I was acting."
Seeing Shehzad angry, Tabish Hashmi then said, "I am taking back my statement."
Notably, the panel was having pre-match discussion of the much-awaited India vs Pakistan match at Champions Trophy 2025.
It is pertinent to mention here that in the past during a podcast, Shehzad had said, "It was an error of judgment from my side. I thought the catch was taken. I was quite confident that the ball got stuck here (shows elbow) and it was there throughout. If you watch that video from the start, the impact came here (shows elbow again). My eyes were closed, and you don’t really know if the catch has been taken."
