China's Sinopharm got approval for emergency use by the authorities in Pakistan, a government statement said. Pakistan has earlier approved Astra Zenece-Oxford vaccine.
Sinopharm is manufactured by China National Pharmaceutical Group and it is approved by Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan for emergency use.
Health Ministry of Pakistan said, the country is speaking with different vaccine manufacturers. “The two COVID-19 vaccines have been granted EUA with certain conditions," a statement by DRAP spokesman said.
It added that both the vaccines have been evaluated for safety and quality. It will be reviewed on quarterly basis to ascertain safety, efficacy and quality.
However, Pakistan is yet to make any placements for vaccine procurement.
