At least five people were killed including two Chinese language teachers in a blast in a van inside the University of Karachi near Confucius Institute, Geo News reported Tuesday.
Karachi Police Chief Ghulam Nabi Memon told The News website that those killed included three Chinese female professors, their driver and a guard.
Baloch Liberation Army claims responsibility. Baloch rebel group claims that the Director of the Confucius Institute Huang Guiping is among the dead.
Videos of the van in which the blast took place were also posted on social media with flames of fire destroying the vehicle as police and paramilitary rangers reached the scene immediately and cordoned off the areas.
Meanwhile, police sources said that there were seven to eight people in the van, however, an exact number of casualties is yet to be reported.
This is not the first time Chinese nationals have been the target of terror attacks in Karachi, which is Pakistan's biggest city and economic hub.
