The United Nations released its annual Happiness Index Report on the occasion of World Happiness Day i.e. March 20th, which brings forth the shocking revelation that Pakistan is indeed a happier country than India. In this, India is at the 126th position while Pakistan, which is currently struggling with an economic crisis, is at number 108 in the list.
According to the report, questions were prepared on 6 parameters to measure the prosperity of these 143 countries. In these, ranking was done on the basis of GDP per capita of the respective country, social cooperation, generosity, corruption, social freedom and a healthy life.
Finland has secured the first place in the list of the happiest countries in the world for the 7th consecutive time. There is a population of only 55 lakhs here. At the same time, Afghanistan remains at the last position. The report said that most of the happiest countries are European.
Israel came in at No. 5, despite the war with Hamas. But according to the authors of the report, the rankings are based on a three-year average, which can skew the numbers. Israel has ranked in the top 10 on the happiness report since 2022. This time data from 2021-2023 was considered hence this latest report of the United Nations was prepared before the Israel-Hamas war. That's why Israel, which is battling the war, is number 5. In the case of the October 7th attack on Israel and the subsequent war between Israel and Hamas, the survey in Palestine took place earlier in the year and the Israel survey after the hostage taking but before much of the subsequent warfare, explain the authors of the report.
