After Kangana Ranaut and Maharashtra Government's faceoff, it's now time for the faceoff between the Mumbai Police and the Republic TV. Republic TV who in recent times has attacked the Maharashtra State Government especially Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh has now come under the scanner of Mumbai Police.
Param Bir Singh on Thursday called a press conference and claimed that Republic TV along with other media channels is involved in a fake TRP racket. He also said that the two are already arrested and Republic TV founders and promoters including Arnab Goswami will soon be summoned.
However, Republic strongly responded back and said that the BARC (Broadcast Audience Research Council) has not taken Republic's name even a single time. Republic accused Param Bir Singh of using his position to silence the media channel from the coverage of Sushant Singh Rajput's case.
Now, Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh has finally responded to all the allegations. Talking to a media channel Param Bir Singh said, "I would like to say that the complaint came from Hansa which is a monitoring agency of BARC. The complaint has not come from the Mumbai Police. They identified the suspicious patterns in ratings of some certain channels including Republic TV. Again that has not come from us. They identified the suspicious viewership pattern of certain households that came from them, not from us. We called those households they admitted that yes they were paid money to view a particular channel and they have been viewing it while they were at home, they were not at home. Some of the houses did not even know English but they were asked to view English television channel. So where is this coming from I don't know. We don't run any agendas there are some channels who ran an agenda to malign Mumbai Police to spoil our image but as a professional force we take on our strike but we don't act with any vendetta."
