In a brutal knife attack earlier this morning in Paris a man wounded six people, one with grievous injuries at the Gare du Nord train station, before finally being shot by off-duty police officers.
One has been grievously injured in the incident while a police officer is one among the victims of the brutal attack. Gare du Nord, where this attack took place is one of the busiest stations in Europe, is the arrival point of the Eurostar train from London, and stands as a major gateway to the north of Europe.
Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin told reporters the man attacked travelers with what looked like a homemade weapon at 0642 CET (0542 GMT) nearly about a quarter past 11 in the morning in IST, at the entrance, and inside the station. However, Police had earlier said the man had used a knife or blade.
Darmanin went on to say, “Within a minute, off-duty police officers returning home after a night shift shot the attacker three times.”

When asked about the possible terror motives involved in the activity, the minister said, “A criminal investigation had been opened but so far no investigation for terrorism had been opened.” As per the reports, The incident caused major delays to trains at the station in the early morning rush.
The attacker who is now admitted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries didn’t say anything during the attack and no identity papers have been retrieved from him. Police secured the entire area shortly after the attack. Radio franceinfo, quoting rail operator SNCF, said trains were operating normally.
A similar incident took place back in February last year at the same Gare du Nord station when a man attacked police with a knife, however, was killed by them. In a separate incident back in October 2017, a man who stabbed two people at the Marseille train station was shot and killed by soldiers.
