The winter session of Parliament began on Monday, during which as many as 26 bills are expected to be tabled, including the one to repeal the three contentious farm laws.

The Winter Session will conclude on 23rd December.

The Opposition parties created a ruckus and rushed to the well demanding that the bill be discussed in Parliament's Winter Session.

Joining the Congress in seeking legal guarantees on the MSP were Trinamool Congress, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, YSR Congress Party, Biju Janata Dal, Telangana Rashtra Samithi, Aam Admi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, and the Left parties.

“TMC wanted to have a discussion on Farm Laws Repeal Bill but the government is afraid to discuss the conditions of the farmers. Govt is not giving Opposition a chance to speak on behalf of the farmers,” said TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee at the Parliament.

Ahead of the session, PM Narendra Modi assured that the government is ready to answer all the questions in the Parliament. "This is an important session of the Parliament. The citizens of the country want a productive session. They are fulfilling their responsibilities for a brighter future," PM Modi said.

The Opposition has also raised issues pertaining to legal backing for Minimum Support Price (MSP) and even demanded compensation for the families of farmers who died during the protests against the three farm laws. Congress has also demanded that a condolence resolution be adopted to pay tributes to farmers who died during the protests.
