The key Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting has been wrapped without taking any decision on the new Punjab CM after Capt Amarinder’s resigned from his post. Now, party high-command
will choose the new leader.
According to sources, MLAs have passed a resolution handing all powers to Party president Sonia Gandhi to make a decision, with the final call being acceptable to all CLP members.
Reportedly, former PPCC chief Sunil Jakhar and current PPCC chief Navjot Singh Sidhu are in the race to become new state chief minister. However, Capt Amarinder firmly made it clear
that he won’t accept Sidhu as new leader.
Calling Sidhu “a total disaster” Capt questioned, “How can he manage the entire state of Punjab if he can't even handle one ministry?”
“This is not acceptable to me,” he added.
