Acting on the numerous complaints of vehicles' thefts for the past few days, the Pathankot Police under the supervision of DSP (City) Pathankot, established a special team which busted a gang and arrested two besides recovering a total of 15 two-wheeler vehicles, including five scooters and 10 motorcycles. The team has also traced four theft cases during the operation.
The accused persons have been identified as Prince of Sekha Mohalla Sujanpur, and Dinesh Kumar alias Deepu of Ward No. 6 Jlakardi Mohalla Sujanpur.
Divulging more details to press, the senior superintendent of police Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh said that the operation was carried out on the tip-off about a stolen motorcycle with number PB3557016. The SHO division No.1 along with the police party, set up a T-Point Abrol Nagar Morr Naka and started checking the vehicles.
During the checking, two persons riding the black-coloured motorcycle were stopped and asked to show the documents of the motorcycle. However, they failed to produce any proof and revealed that they had stolen the motorcycle about a month ago from the bank of Bhanwal canal near the shrine of Pir Baba.
Further investigation revealed that the accused had stolen many two-wheelers from the areas around Pathankot and Sujanpur, and some of these vehicles belonged to Bhupinder Singh alias Bunty, son of Chanchal Singh, a resident of village Madhopur Kulia. When the police raided Bunty's location, he was found absconding, but five stolen vehicles were recovered.
The police have registered a case under sections 379,411 of IPC at Police Station Division No. 1 Pathankot, and the investigation is ongoing.
In the police records, there exist a limited number of FIRs that have been filed concerning vehicle thefts, whereas several cases are yet to be reported. Consequently, the police department is releasing detailed descriptions of the stolen vehicles, comprising their make, chassis number, engine number, and other relevant specifications. This initiative aims to aid the owners in identifying their stolen property and subsequently approaching the Station House Officer of Division Number One, the esteemed Inspector Mandeep Salgotra.

The recovery of 15 two-wheelers and tracing of citizens four theft cases is a significant achievement, and it showcases the dedication and commitment of the Pathankot Police towards ensuring the safety and security of the citizens.
