In a major breakthrough, Pathankot Police has successfully seized a whopping 207 Kg of Poppy Husk, worth lakhs of rupees, from a group of five notorious smugglers. The seizure was made following the registration of FIR No. 13 dated 08/05/23 U/s 15/61/85 NDPS Act PS Nangal Bhoor, Pathankot.
The arrested accused have been identified as Satwinder Singh, Rakesh Kumar, Tejwinder Singh, Gurbaz Singh, and Dharminder Singh, all residents of different areas in Ludhiana. While Satwinder Singh, Rakesh Kumar, and Tejwinder Singh were travelling in a Hyundai Verna car with registration number PB 11 BR 9443, Gurbaz Singh and Dharminder Singh were in a Tata truck with registration number PB 12 M 7631.
Speaking on the occasion, the Superintendent of Police, Pathankot, Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh, said, "We will leave no stone unturned in our fight against drug trafficking. We are committed to making our region drug-free and will continue to take strict action against those involved in such illegal activities,"
Acting on a tip-off, the police party intercepted a Hyundai Verna car bearing registration number PB 11 BR 9443, which had been escorting a Tata Truck with registration number PB 12 M 7631.The police team, led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Nangal Bhoor Police Station, SI Shohrat Maan along with police party intercepted the a Verna car escorting truck and seized 207 Poppy Husk from the truck. All five accused have been arrested and booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
SSP Khakh has also commended the team involved in the operation for their swift action and dedication towards maintaining law and order in the region. The accused individuals have been taken into custody and will be presented in court.
The successful bust is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the Pathankot Police in their ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region. The police have assured that they will continue to be vigilant and take strict action against those involved in such illegal activities.
The Pathankot Police have also appealed to the citizens to come forward and report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking. They have assured that the identity of the informants will be kept confidential.
