Exhibiting its sheer determination and commitment to nab the criminals, the Pathankot Police have successfully chased and held the perpetrators of a brutal shopkeeper's murder spanning 11 states of the country. The victim was tragically beaten to death in a minor dispute and fell victim to the intoxicated assailants in the peaceful village of Akhwana, Pathankot. The apprehended accused have been identified as Kushal Singh, popularly known as Kalu from Shapurkandi, and Vishal Singh in Village Kanpur, Shapurkandi in Pathankot.

Disclosing the investigation, Senior Superintendent of Police Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said a team led by SP D Manoj Kumar was formed to crack the case along with DSP Dhar, SHOs Shahpurkandi and SHO Sujanpur. Upon receiving a statement from the victim's spouse Sheetal, the police team acted swiftly and launched an investigation, meticulously analyzing the CCTV footage. This crucial evidence played a pivotal role in quickly identifying the culprits and bringing the accused to justice.

The police team constantly followed the digital footprints as the two accused continually changed their locations to evade arrest. The relentless efforts spanning across 11 states, including Punjab, Haryana, New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Kolkata, Andhra Pradesh, and finally culminated in the apprehension of the criminals in Sanjeevi Nagar, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu.

A case has been registered 20, 2023 under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 307 (attempt to murder), 327 (voluntarily causing hurt to extort property), 458 (house trespass), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 148 (rioting, armed with a deadly weapon), and 149 (unlawful assembly at the Shahpurkandi Police Station.

During the initial inquiry, the victims claimed that the event unfolded when the inebriated accused coincidentally stumbled upon the victim's establishment. An argument erupted when the victim expressed concern over their excessive intoxication, leading to a distressing sequence of events. The accused called their accomplices and launched a merciless assault on the shopkeeper with sharp edged weapons. The attack was brutal and unrelenting, leaving the victim in a deeply harrowing condition and he succumbed on the way to the hospital.

The SSP said that the arrested accused would be produced before the court, and a request will be made for their police custody for a detailed investigation into the case.
