Pathankot police crackdown on drug trafficking and illegal arms possession

Police arrest three, seize drugs money more than lakh, firearms and one car

In a significant breakthrough, the Pathankot Police have apprehended three notorious criminals, including a repeat offender, and recovered a huge quantity of narcotics and illegal arms from their possession.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Raman son of Bisan Das resident of Kalgidhar Chowk Jabal Market Mukeria district Hoshiarpur, Vikas alias Honey son of Rames Kumar resident of Visnu Nagar Lamini Pathankot, Sahil Singh son of Darsan Singh resident of Mohalla Rampura Pathankot. They were caught with a FIAT PUNTO car bearing registration no. PB-10-EY-4647.

Divulging more details to press, the senior superintendent of police Pathankot, Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh said that Pursuant to a credible tip, a targeted and methodical search operation was carried out by a team of SHO Police Station Division No. 2, under the watchful eye of DSP City Lakhwinder Singh. As a result of their diligent efforts, the accused were found to be in possession of a sizeable quantity of narcotics powder weighing in at 260 grams, as well as a substantial sum of cash amounting to Rs. 1 lakh and 2 thousand. Notably, the accused Raman, who boasts a lengthy rap sheet, was also found to have six live cartridges in his possession.

During the initial investigation, it has been uncovered that Raman has a history of involvement in four heinous crimes, such as murder, abduction, and illegal possession of firearms. In an attempt to evade arrest, he had been on the run from the Mukeria police station and had taken refuge with Sahil Singh, who had provided him with rented accommodation. Furthermore, the police team has uncovered that Raman had kidnapped a minor girl named Nampreet from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh and had held her captive under his custody.

The police have registered a Case No. 59 dated 27.04.2023 under section 22-61-85 NDPS ACT, 25-54-59 ARMS ACT Police Station Division No. 02 Pathankot and the accused are now in police custody for further investigation. The Pathankot Police have once again shown their determination and commitment to crack down on drug trafficking and illegal arms possession in the region.

Speaking on the operation, SSP Khakh said, "We are committed to making our city safe for all residents, and operations like these are a testament to our efforts. We will not tolerate drug peddling or any other criminal activities in our jurisdiction and will take strict action against those who violate the law."

The SSP Khakh has lauded the team for their swift action in arresting the accused and recovering the drugs and weapons from their possession.

The Pathankot Police are urging the public to come forward and report any suspicious activity in their area. They also appeal to parents to keep a watchful eye on their children and prevent them from falling prey to drug abuse and criminal activities.
