In line with the CM Punjab Bhagwant Maan and DGP Punjab ambition to eliminate gangsters and other offenders, Pathankot Police implemented Operation Eagle-2 from 11am to 4pm on Saturday under the guidance of Punjab Director General of Police Shri Gaurav Yadav IPS. This operation included thorough searches of bus stops, railway stations, hotels, Sarais and people who appear suspicious. Additionally, every police station has equipped with a powerful Naka monitored by GO rank officers in order to ensure the safety and security of the district.
Shri Arun Pal Singh,IGP Provisioning, Punjab, Chandigarh in conjunction with the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Pathankot, Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh, has been actively supervising the operation under the guidance of the Director General of Police (DGP) of Punjab.
The Senior Superintendent of Police Pathankot, Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh, divulged additional information to the press, emphasising that the purpose of the operation is to perform thorough searches of bus stands, railway stations,, hotels and Sarais of the district for any suspicious individuals, each station being overseen by a Superintendent of Police-level officer.
Moreover, one strong Nakas per police station has been set up at each police station under the supervision of DSP rank officer to inspect vehicles and detain any dubious individuals for questioning.
A comprehensive contingent of personnel, including one Senior Superintendent of Police, two Superintendents of Police, five Deputy Superintendents, ten Station House Officers, twenty-six NGO representatives, and one hundred and thirty-two EPO's, have assembled to ensure the success of the initiative. Superintendents of Police, Deputy Superintendents of Police and Station House Officers, along with their personnel, have been actively engaged in the mission.
The Police teams conducted a thorough search of the Bus Stand, Railway Station, hotels, and Sarais, scrutinising the identity cards of the general public and inspecting all vehicles for any suspicious activities. A systematic operation was implemented, with teams of police personnel from all police stations in the district meticulously searching the areas for any suspicious individuals and activities.
The SSP Khakh said that at as many as ten prominent Nakas set up across district , and in the course of search operations, vehicles and persons of interest are being carefully scrutinised and the Vahan application is being utilised to verify the ownership of the vehicles.
In the course of the Eagle Operation-2, police parties set up as many as 10 technologically advanced checkpoints, searched bus stands and railway stations, inspected 58 hotels, examined 256 suspicious persons, arrested 9 offenders and filed 8 FIRs in different police stations. Furthermore, 300,250 mL of illicit alcohol, 10 bottles of Punjab Cheers XXX Rum, 35 grams of heroin and 38,000 Rs/- of drug money were confiscated by the police. In addition, 4 vehicles were impounded and 12 challans were issued to the offenders.
Furthermore, police teams ensured that no disturbance is inflicted upon the public during searches.
SSP Khakh strongly emphasised the invaluable help of the public in alerting the police of any suspicious activity. He further stated that similar operations will be conducted in the near future in order to prevent any criminal activity.
