Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday campaigned for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Mohinder Bhagat in the Jalandhar West Assembly by-election. Mann addressed several public meetings here and fiercely attacked the BJP and Congress party.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann along with Mohinder Bhagat held public meetings in Ward No. 74, 34 and Ward No. 38 falling under Jalandhar West Assembly and appealed to the people to make the AAP candidate win.
Addressing the people, Mann said that the result of this election cannot bring any change in the government. Neither our government will fall nor anyone else's government will be formed, but the victory of the Aam Aadmi Party candidate will give you a share in the government, due to which the development of this area will happen at a faster pace. The Chief Minister promised the people and said that you make the AAP candidate win, any applications Mohinder Bhagat will bring to me, I will sign and pass all of them.
Mann said that he was planning to open an office in Doaba for a long time so that he could meet the people of Doaba and Majha region. One good thing that happened in this by-election was that finally he was successful in implementing that plan and set up his office here. Now people will not have to go to Chandigarh to get their work done. Now the government itself is at your doorstep. Mann said that he will keep this residence even after the elections so that he can be available for the people of Doaba and Majha region at least two days a week.
He attacked Congress candidate Surinder Kaur and said that if she could not get the work of her ward done while being the Deputy Mayor of Jalandhar, then how will she get the work of such a big assembly constituency done? Mann said that the work of streets, drains and sewerage systems etc. comes under the Municipal Corporation. Currently there is a Congress Mayor in Jalandhar Municipal Corporation, he has not done anything for these.
Mann also attacked Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Badal. He said that the condition of Akali Dal Badal has become so bad that Sukhbir Badal has withdrawn support from the SAD candidate and is asking people to vote for the Bahujan Samaj Party.
Mann said that I have not come into politics to earn money. If I had to earn money, I would have earned a lot as an artist till now. 20 years ago, I used to get 25 lakh rupees for a show. I used to get 75 to 80 lakh rupees for a show abroad. I have come into politics to serve the people of Punjab and to end corruption.
He said that I do not want to earn money, but whoever has looted Punjab, I will take it back with interest and work for the development of the common people. He said that Akali Dal, BJP and Congress have come together to defeat me because all three have looted Punjab together. He said that all three parties have a lot of problems with how young MLAs from common households became ministers and chief minister.
Mann also attacked BJP candidate Sheetal Angural and said that he has betrayed the people here. He said that he had problems doing illegal work while being in the Aam Aadmi Party, so he went to the BJP. Nowadays BJP is the first choice of corrupt leaders. Taking a dig, he said that the person whose father smuggles gold biscuits is accusing me of corruption.
*Vote for the Aam Aadmi Party to make Punjab Rangla again - Mohinder Bhagat*
AAP candidate Mohinder Bhagat said that the Aam Aadmi Party government is the government of common people and the poor. The Mann government is collecting taxes from the rich and using that money to provide facilities to the common people. He said that this is the first time in the history of Punjab that a Chief Minister has come to live in Jalandhar with his family. He said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is very sensitive towards the development of Jalandhar, therefore it is very important for the Aam Aadmi Party to win this election.
