Petrol and diesel prices in the country continue to rise again. Petrol has gone up by 80 paise per liter and diesel by 70 paise per liter. Rates have risen by Rs 4.90 in 8 days.
With this rise, today's rate of petrol in Punjab has crossed 100.
The price of crude oil in the international market has come down by about 26 percent. Despite this, petrol and diesel prices continue to rise in the country. Since March 22, oil companies have hiked the prices of automotive fuel petrol and diesel seven times in eight days.
Petrol is now selling at Rs 100.21 per liter while diesel is selling at Rs 91.47 per liter. It may be recalled that Indian Oil companies had on Monday hiked petrol prices by 30 paise and diesel by 35 paise per liter. Oil prices have risen for the seventh time in the last eight days. According to a recent update by Indian Oil Corporation, the price of petrol in the country's economic capital has gone up to Rs 115.04 per liter. The price of diesel has gone up to Rs 99.25 per liter. In all major metros, including Delhi, petrol is now selling at over Rs 100 per liter.
Experts estimate that the rise in prices is not going to stop. The price of petrol and diesel is determined daily on the basis of the price of crude oil in the international market.
