Politicians in India making bizarre statements is nothing new. They would go to even blaming the ordinary public for the mess in the country. In one such incident, when asked about inflation, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from Madhya Pradesh Ramratan Payal told a reporter to go Taliban-ruled Afghanistan where petrol is available for Rs 50. This remark come when a journalist asked Mr Payal about the fuel prices soaring in the country.
Payal is the unit head of the BJP in Katni district in Madhya Pradesh.
He further said that the country will be hit by the third wave of Covid-19 and questions on petrol prices are being asked.

A video of his statement is going viral on social media, meanwhile, in the video, the BJP leader’s supporters could be seen smiling and none of them was maintaining physical distance nor anyone was wearing a mask.
Payal could be seen losing his cool when the local reporter asked about fuel prices rising in the country.
“Go to Taliban. Petrol is Rs 50 [per litre] in Afghanistan, but there’s no one to use it. At least there is safety in India. The third wave of Covid-19 is about to hit us. The country is going through a tough time, and you are talking about petrol prices,” he said.
Another BJP MLA from Bihar Haribhushan Thakur on Wednesday suggested those who feel afraid in India should move to the war-torn country, adding fuel prices are affordable there. The legislator from the Bisfi constituency also added that Afghanistan’s crisis will not have any impact on India. "It would not have any impact on India but those who feel scared here can go there... petrol and diesel are cheaper. Once there, they will understand the value of India," he said.
The cost of petrol in India has risen to Rs 100 per litre, while diesel has jumped to Rs 90 in most states across the nation.
