In a shocking development that has surfaced from Phagwara, civil hospital doctor and staff were beaten brutally beaten by people who has come to get their accomplice treatment done. Soon after this, doctor along with staff staged a sit-in protest seeking justice.
Reportedly, a 17-year-old youth was brought to hospital suffering serious head injuries after he got hit by a speeding train. The accident happened while youth was trying to cross railway crossing. As he was busy on his phone, he did not see the train coming and got hit by it. Victim has been identified as Anuj Singh.
Soon after accident, he was rushed to hospital by his family and relatives but seeing the kind of treatment it required, doctor referred him to Ludhiana hospital. This angered the family members and they started pressurizing doctor for treatment. After some time, Dr. Ashish Jaitley informed that Anuj has succumbed to injuries. This flared the anger in relatives who then mercilessly started beating doctor along with staff present there. As per information, Dr. Ashish Jaitley suffered serious injuries in the fight and himself is admitted to the hospital.
Feeling insulted because of all that happened, hospital staff and doctors left all work and staged a sit-in protest outside hospital. The staff raised slogans against the government regarding their own security and demanded arrest of attackers.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Phagwara and Corporation Commissioner Madam Nayan Jasal stated that the police have arrested family members of deceased regarding this whole matter. Dharna was ended only after the administration assured the staff of hospital to ensure their safety and register a case against the person who assaulted them.
