Police constable Kamal Bjawa was shot dead during an encounter with gangsters in Phagwara town of Punjab. During the encounter, gangsters opened fire at the policemen chasing them after which one bullet hit Station City SHO Amandeep Nahar’s gunman Kamal Bajwa who was then taken to hospital but succumbed to injuries.
Along with being a policeman who did his duty with the utmost compassion, Kamal Bajwa was nothing less than an Instagram sensation. He had 190k followers on Instagram and was famous among his following for being the man who was full of life. Looking at his account, it seems that Kamal Bajwa was fond of travelling, socializing with friends, etc. He has made several funny and trendy reels with his friends. The deceased through his reels seems to be a person who loves to dance and sing.
On 9th January 2023, gangsters were fleeing away after looting Creta vehicle from Phagwara when SHO’s gunman received information about the same. He started chasing them but was not aware of the availability of pistols with them. After gangsters got to know that the police are chasing them, they opened fire out of which one bullet hit Kamal Bajwa. He was then taken to Civil Hospital where he was declared dead.
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann also paid his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased through a tweet. He further acknowledged him for his sacrifice and sense of responsibility towards the state. CM Mann also wrote that his family will receive Rs. 1 crore as ex-gratia while another Rs. 1 crore will be given by HDFC bank as money for insurance.
