Phone explosion during online class kills a class 5 student in Vietnam

A mobile phone explosion caused the death of a class 5 student in Nghe An Province of Vietnam. The student was attending an online class with his phone on charging and due to heat, the phone exploded. The boy suffered burn injuries leading to his death. 

 

The 11-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital by his parents as he suffered severe injuries where he was declared dead during treatment. 
 

After the mobile exploded it led to the boy’s clothes catching fire and leaving him in a critical condition, sources said. 
 

The boy was wearing earphones while he was studying at home. The local news agency reported that it was when he was wearing the earphones that the phone blew up.

The incident happened on October 14 around 4 pm. 
 

The VNExpress reported that though the schools reopened last month, had also been ordered to be prepared for a sudden closure, therefore, administrations have asked students to keep attending online classes once a week. 

Schools and other educational institutions had to shift towards digital devices for learning after the world was hit by the Coronavirus pandemic when everything was shut down. 

School students are taking online classes on their mobile phones, tablets and other devices. 

Using electronic devices for a longer duration has increased several risks for students which are also affecting their mental health.

A similar incident was also reported in India, where an 18-year-old college student was electrocuted while his phone was on charge. 

Many such similar incidents have been reported across several countries raising fear among parents as online classes are a thing to stay now and students will have to attend online learning with the help of their electronic devices.
