The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has removed
plasma therapy from the list of Covid-19 treatment among adult patients.
On Monday late night, ICMR issued its revised guidelines which states that for the Covid-19 patients' treatment, convalescent plasma therapy has been removed even as an off-label treatment.
However, until now the treatment was allowed only if the
following criteria were met:
1. Early moderate disease (preferably with the seven days of developing
symptoms)
2. Availability of high titre plasma donor

It may be noted here that the Covid-19 treatment protocol is prepared by AIIMS/ICMR- Covid-19 national task force/ joint monitoring group under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Reiterating the fact, a few months after Covid-19 hit India, plasma was considered an effective treatment to cure the infection among patients. Even it was thought that it is helpful in preventing the case from ‘moderate’ to ‘severe.’
As the scientist dwelled profoundly to know about plasma therapy it came to light that this therapy is neither effective to drop the number Covid-19 patients nor is containing the severity of the case.
