Prime Minister Narendra Modi today released the eighth installment of financial benefit under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. Nearly 19 crores have been disbursed benefitting more than 9.5 crore farmer families across the country.
Farmers in West Bengal are receiving the benefit of the scheme for the first time. While announcing the release of the installment Prime Minister Narendra Modi also interacted with beneficiary farmers from various states through video conferencing.
In the video conference, PM said, “farmers in West Bengal for the first time benefitted with the Central scheme and that more farmers will get the support as soon as the Center receives it.”
During the announcement, he also said that around Rs 1.35 lakh crore has been transferred to the bank accounts of farmers under the PM-KISAN and Rs 60,000 crore during the covid19 pandemic.

This disbursement of the financial benefits is the first installment of the PM-KISAN scheme for the current financial year. The seventh installment was released on December 25, 2020. Around Rs 18,000 crore were deposited in the bank account of 9 crore families.
After the release of the fund, PM Narendra Modi interacted with the Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar.
While addressing people, PM also spoke about the ongoing second wave of coronavirus infection in the country. As the virus is rapidly spreading in the rural areas, PM Modi cautioned farmers and other people living in villages. He also advised people to wear masks properly and get vaccinated as soon as possible.
