A day after appealing people to remain united and peaceful and not believe in rumours, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday accused the Opposition of trying to create tensions in society.
Addressing an election rally in Jharkhand, PM Modi said," The Congress is spreading lies on the Citizenship Amendment Act."
The prime minister said the Congress was trying to "create an atmosphere of fear for Muslims in India".
"The Citizenship Amendment Act doesn't snatch away any right of an Indian citizen or causes any harm. The Congress and its allies are instigating Muslims for political purpose," PM Modi said.

Speaking on the ongoing Jharkhand assembly elections, he said, "There is only one voice in the state - 'Jharkhad pukara BJP dobara'. This voice has strengthened because 'Lotus' has ensured development in the state. When 'Lotus' blossoms youth, women, old, tribals, the backward areas are benefitted."
