Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday addressed the nation making a big announcement of India having successfully completed the 'Mission Shakti' making the nation a 'space power' and a part of 'big four' space powers.
India has shot down a 'low orbit satellite' using an anti-satellite missile that too within three minutes of the launching. The A-Sat missile hit the target with utmost precision and remarkable technical capability.
"India is a proud nation. Now along with land, water and air, India is now secure in space as well. I congratulate the entire nation and scientists who have made India a stronger nation," said PM Modi in his address.
The success of 'Mission Shakti' now makes India a space power among the 'big four'. This step towards security in space is a remarkable achievement as not many nations have attempted to secure themselves in space. When China attempted to secure themselves in space, it became a talking point across the globe and the discussions were sparked over hoarding weapons in space.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi clearly said that India is against hoarding weapons in space clearing India's stance over the discussion.
"Mission Shakti is an important step towards securing India for economic growth and technological advancement," Modi added.
The opposition, however, were not happy of PM Modi making an announcement at a time when Lok Sabha Elections are just around the corner and filed a complaint to the Election Commission as well. The poll body, however, reportedly dismissed the complaint citing the announcement to be 'security related' which is technically allowed for the PM to make.
The opposition was left more frustrated with BJP supporters tweeting with hashtag 'NamumkinAbMumkinHai'. One of the Congress leaders also tweeted that 'Mission Shakti' was started by the former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh led government.
The speculation of a big news like demonetization escalated when Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted urging the entire nation to watch the address on television, radio or social media.
