During the Motion of Thanks in the Rajya Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday slammed the narrative against his government on the farmers' issue and criticised the comments from the international celebrities on it. He cautioned the country people against a new FDI now stands for "Foreign Destructive Ideology", adding that we have to protect the nation against it.

"The nation is making progress and we are talking about FDI but I see that a new FDI has come to the fore. We have to protect the nation from this new FDI. We need Foreign Direct Investment but the new FDI is 'Foreign Destructive Ideology', we have to protect ourselves from it," he said in the Rajya Sabha.

He advised that the country should not pay attention to such people as they have the mentality to jump into each protest, whether it be farmers' or lawyers' or students'. "A new type of people have propped up in the country they are "Andolan jeevi ``,'' Modi added.

"Protest is their life-source and they can be spotted in each protest site be it on anything. They cannot live without protest, we have to identify them and protect our nation from them,” he said.

They will instigate and then watch from the sidelines; each state government is feeling the same brunt as these people are parasites for the country, he further added.

PM remarks come following the stir that was caused on social media after international celebrities like Rihanna, Mia Khalifa, Greta Thunberg spoke on the Indian farmers’ movement.
