New Delhi: On Sunday, PM Modi is scheduled to visit Gorakhpur and Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh. Prime Minister will at the Fertilizer Corporation of India ground at Gorakhpur, mark the launch of the PM-KISAN scheme and will electronically transfer the first installment of Rs 2,000 to selected farmers. This will mark the official launch of the PM KISAN scheme, an official source said.
Announced during the Interim Budget 2019-20 on 1st February 2019, the scheme will give an amount of Rs 6,000 per year to small and marginal farmer families having combined land holding and ownership of up to two hectares. Prime Minister, in a series of tweets said that the launch of the scheme would mark NDA's "unwavering commitment to farmer welfare.....is a historic day. The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi will be launched from Gorakhpur. This is a scheme that will give wings to the aspirations of crores of hardworking farmers of India who feed our nation," Mr Modi wrote.
A PMO announcement has said that Prime Minister will take a 'snaan' at Triveni Sangam at Prayagraj on Sunday. At Kumbh, he will be participating at an event organized by Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation named Swachh Kumbh Swachh Aabhaar. Safai Karmacharis, Swachhagrahis, Police Personnel and Naviks will be awarded the Swachh Kumbh Swachh Aabhaar awardsby the PM.
There will also be the digital announcement of Swachh Seva Samman Benefits package. He will also address the gathering. Meanwhile, he is also slated to make his monthly radio broadcast Mann-Ki-Baat over All India Radio during the day. This will be 53rd edition of Mann-Ki-Baat and also the first since the February 14 unprecedented terror strike at Pulwama that claimed lives of 40 CRPF personnel.
