Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled a review meeting with Cheif Ministers of Odisha and West Bengal over the destruction caused by Cyclone Yaas on Friday. However, Bengal Chief Minister skipped the review meeting citing that she has other meeting lined up.
The Chief Minister upon entering review meet handed over papers related to the cyclone impact and said that other meetings were lined up and left.
PM Modi and Bengal CM Banerjee met at Kalaikunda Air Base in Bengal’s West Midnapore district, where she asses damage caused by cyclonic storm Yaas.
The review meeting was attended by state governor Jagdeeo Dhankhar, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, State Irrigation Minister Soumen Mahapatra and senior administrative officials.

Mamata Banerjee has claimed the damage of around Rs 15,000 crore caused to West Bengal by Cyclone Yass. The damage list included the destruction of three lakh houses and 134 embankments. Banerjee has announced a rescue package of Rs 1000 crore and ordered the official to go door to door to provide relief supplies.
Meanwhile, BJP leaders lashed over Mamata Banerjee for not attending the review meeting. BJP leader Amit Malviya said, “Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee is at her petulant best. Nandigram's defeat at the hands of Shri Suvendu Adhikari is still rankling her. Today, when PM review damage by Yaas, along with Hon’ble Governor, central ministers and leader of opposition in West Bengal, she skipped the meeting for petty politics.”
