Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Center at Mullanpur, Mohali. Bhagwant Mann, the chief minister of Punjab, was also there. Following this, PM Modi said during the program that this hospital is an example of how the nation's healthcare system is progressing. Along with Punjab and Haryana, the people of Himachal Pradesh will also get benefit from this center.
PM Modi said that Cancer treatment is possible. There is no need to be afraid of it. The central government is currently offering whatever needed help in this situation.
This was PM Narendra Modi's first visit to Punjab after the security lapse in Ferozepur on January 5 this year, for which the Punjab Police had made tight security arrangements. However, PM Modi did not comment on the security lapse.
According to PM Modi, the nation needed a healthcare system that would provide for the needs of the lowest of the poor. A good healthcare system is not just about building a boundary wall. The central government's major priority is healthcare. The amount of work completed in the health sector in the last 7-8 years has not been accomplished in the previous 70 years. There were less than 400 medical schools before 2014. In the past eight years, more than 200 medical colleges have been established. The PM said that the Center is making record investments on 6 fronts.
