Chandigarh: A hawker, selling Choley-bhature in Chandigarh is in the headlines again today when Prime Minister Narendra Modi saluted his spirit for offering free Choley-bhature to all after getting a vaccination for covid-19.
Sanjay Rana, a hawker in Chandigarh has been winning hearts not just with his mouth-watering ‘choley-bhautre’ but also with his great sense of responsibility in Covid times. The street hawker is offering free choley-bhature’ to anyone getting vaccinated against Covid-19. He has hung a cardboard, clearly stating the offer, right in front of his bicycle. Such an initiative was needed to make the vaccination drive a huge success.
Sanjay Rana's only goal is to get all the people of the city vaccinated as soon as possible to protect themselves from the infection. Street vendor Sanjay Rana has taken the initiative to vaccinate as many people as possible. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandavia also shared Sanjay Rana's post on his Twitter account. Earlier, Sanjay’s initiative has also been lauded by VP Singh Badnore, UT Administrator and Governor of Punjab. Who tweeted “Hats off to the spirit of #Chandigarh hawker! My heart filled with gratitude to see his bit of duty towards his country and the extent of awareness this man has favouring #vaccination and offering free #CholaeBhatura to all those who get vaccinated.”
Sanjay Rana, who has been selling ‘choley-bhature’ in Sector-29 Rehri market for the last 17 years, said that after 17- years of his marriage, he had a daughter. At the request of his daughter Ridhima, he started serving the people free choley-bhuture’ to anyone getting vaccinated.
Rana said that it has been over a month now that all the people who come to him after getting them vaccinated are given a plate of free ‘choley-bhature’ on showing government documents or mobile messages. “My idea was to inspire the people to get rid of this epidemic as soon as possible through vaccination,” he added.
