
PrimeMinister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that the district administration ofVaranasi should extend all possible help to the people with utmost sensitivity.
ThePrime Minister reviewed the Covid situation in Varanasi, his parliamentaryconstituency, through video conferencing. He interacted with regional publicrepresentatives and officials. He took stock of testing, availability of beds,medicines, vaccines and manpower for prevention and proper treatment ofinfected patients.
Hedirected the officers to provide all possible assistance to the publicexpeditiously.
Duringthe discussion, the Prime Minister emphasised that everybody should follow the"distance of two yards and mask is essential".
Stressingthe importance of the vaccination campaign, the Prime Minister said that theadministration should make everyone above the age of 45 years aware of thecampaign.
Healso asked the administration to extend all possible assistance to the peopleof Varanasi with utmost sensitivity.
ThePrime Minister thanked all the doctors and medical staff of the country andsaid that even in this hour of crisis, they are doing their duty sincerely."We have to learn from last year's experiences and move forwardcautiously," he said.
ThePrime Minister said that as a representative of Varanasi, he is also takingconstant feedback from the general public.
"Theexpansion and modernisation of medical infrastructure in Varanasi in the lastfive-six years has helped in fighting Covid. Simultaneously, the availabilityof beds, ICU and oxygen in Varanasi is being augmented," he said.
ThePrime Minister also emphasised the need to increase efforts at all levels inview of the stress due to the increased number of patients.
"TheVaranasi administration should step up the pace of work in all the fields inthe same way it has rapidly set up the 'Kashi Covid Response Centre',"Modi said.
ThePrime Minister emphasised on "Test, Track and Treat" and said thatlike the first wave, the same strategy has to be adopted to win over viruses.
Healso emphasised on providing contract tracing and test reports of infectedpersons at the earliest.
Healso directed the administration to discharge all responsibilities towards thepatients and their families living in home isolation in a sensitive manner. ThePrime Minister praised the voluntary organisations of Varanasi for workingclosely with the Government and said they should be further encouraged.
Thepublic representatives and officials of Varanasi region informed the PrimeMinister about the preparations for prevention and treatment of Covid.
ThePrime Minister was briefed on the issues of control rooms set up for contacttracing, command and control centres set up for home isolation, dedicated phoneline ambulances, provision of telemedicine from control rooms, deployment ofadditional rapid response teams in urban areas etc.
ThePrime Minister was informed that so far 19,8,383 persons have received thefirst dose and 35,014 persons have received both the doses of vaccination toprevent Covid.
