New Delhi: A bench of the apex court headed by Justice SA Bobde on Thursday decided to hear a plea seeking suspension of public screening of Vivek Oberoi starrer ‘PM Narendra Modi’, biopic of current PM Narendra Damodardas Modi on 8th of April, Monday "We will hear the plea seeking the deferment if the Biopic on April 8, Monday", the bench of the top court said on Thursday.

Filing a petition, Congress spokesperson Aman Panwar mentioned the matter before the bench of the top court to which Justice Bobde declined urgent hearing. However, Panwar had seeked immediate intervention into the matter and also sought directions regarding barring the release of the film during election period.

Senior advocate Dr Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who is representing the petitioner Panwar had submitted to the court bench that the release of the biopic Hindi film will influence the decision of the voters. ‘PM Narendra Modi’ was to hit the theatres on April 5, almost a week before the Lok Sabha polls which will begin from April 11. Opposition parties had criticise the release citing violation of Model Code of Conduct.

Apart from Congress, Left parties, NCP and DMK also demanded deferring the release date of the movie, citing violation of Model Code of Conduct.
