Usually on 1st July people in India celebrate the doctor’s day by in India Consultation workshops, free medical check-up camps, General screening test camps are organised across the country. Campaigns are held all over these to make the citizens aware of contributions, hardships, importance and care provided by the doctors.
This year, PM Narendra Modi has decided to address the medical department at an event in the morning. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) is the organiser of the event. The address will commence at 3 PM via video conference taking care of everyone’s safety.
He made this official announcement by tweeting about the same yesterday. He wrote “India is proud of the efforts of all doctors in fighting Covid-19. 1st July is marked as National Doctors Day. At 3 PM tomorrow will address the doctor’s community at a programme organised by @IMAIndiaOrg.”
The Prime Minister has always valued and favoured the efforts of doctors especially during the Covid situation and the event is happening when the whole nation is still pursuing the COVID-19 battle.

“On Doctors Day, my greetings to all doctors. India's strides in the world of medicine are commendable and have contributed to making our planet healthier.” This is a recent acknowledgement which the Prime Minister made an hour ago by linking a video from one of his previous Mann ki Baat which was held a few days ago.
"On July 1, we will celebrate National Doctors' Day. We must pay tribute to our doctors who ensured that India did not succumb to the challenges posed by COVID-19." Is something which PM Modi once said in his 78th Mann ki Baat while remembering Dr BC Roy.

The first National Doctor’s day was celebrated on 1st July 1991 which also marks both births as well as the death anniversary of the most famous physician of India -Dr BC Roy.

Besides that, the celebration of the sixth anniversary of the Digital India campaign is also scheduled today through a video conference.
