Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the 4th indigenously build Vande Bharat Express on Thursday which will run from Delhi to Amb-Andaura Railway Station in Una of Himachal Pradesh.
Reportedly the train will run on the route for 6 days a week except for Wednesdays and will have stops at Ambala, Chandigarh, Anandpur Sahib, and will finally reach Una.
The move seems evitable in the backdrop of the assembly polls scheduled later this year in Himachal Pradesh. In a similar move, Narendra Modi flagged off the 3rd Vande Bharat Express last month in Gujarat which connects Gandhinagar to Mumbai and is also due for election later this year.
India saw the first launch of PM Modi’s flagship program for the indigenous-built trains back in 2019 on the 12th of February ahead of the grand Lok Sabha polls. The launch came months after ICF launched made-in-India coaches.
The Vande Bharat trains contain a self-propelled engine which means that it does not need a separate engine, are enabled to save diesel and have the ability to reduce electricity usage by 30%.
Known by the name of Train 18 as well the trains are operated by Indian Railways only on two prominent routes from New Delhi to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and the other one being from New Delhi to Varanasi.
The train has automatic doors and air-conditioned chair car coaches and a revolving chair that can rotate up to 180 degrees.
At a public event earlier Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced 400 Vande Bharat Express saying that it will be introduced in the period of next three years.
