Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation through the 79th edition of his radio program “Mann Ki Baat,” today. The program was broadcasted on the government media channels – AIR and Doordarshan.
During this edition, Prime Minister concentrated on vocal for local and asked the people of the country to buy the products from local vendors as they are Made In India. PM Modi also highlighted ‘National Handloom Day’ which is celebrated on August 7th.

PM Modi also recalled Kargil War and paid a tribute to the Indian Army.
PM Modi emphasized the youth of the nation and expressed his happiness that youth are participating in Mann Ki Baat as 75% of ideas are shared by people of age less than 35 years. He further dedicated the program to youth and said, “I am glad that Mann Ki Baat program is somewhere representing the thoughts of the youth of the country.”
Highlights of PM Modi’s radio program Mann Ki Baat:
- Prime Minister urged people to share their “victory punch” to cheer India in Tokyo Olympics. He said that every Indian is proud to see our contingent in Tokyo Olympics 2020.
- He paid tribute to the Indian Army ahead of Kargil Diwas, which is celebrated on July 26th, every year.
- PM informed the nation about the “Amrit Mahotsav” and remembered some unknown Freedom Fighter along with Mahatma Gandhi. He continued by informing people about the celebration of Independence Day. He said that this year 15th August would be celebrated uniquely. He further asked people to record National Anthem and sent it at – rashtriyagaan.in.
- He then urged people to go “Vocal for Local” by purchasing things from the local vendors. He also shared the success of Khadi over the last few years.
- He informed people about “National Handloom Day” that is celebrated on August 7th, the same day when Mahatma Gandhi started Swadeshi Movement.
- He said that every citizen should first think about the nation. He stated, “Nation first, always first!”
- Then he expressed his happiness and said that he is glad that the youth is sending inputs to the Mann Ki Baat radio program. He also shared data, which stated that around 75% of people, who share their ideas and thoughts come from under the age of 35 years.
- He shared the stories of people who have started farming in Mizoram and Tripura. He also shared that how women in Lakhanpur are turning banana waste into banana fiber.
- He also praised owners of food stalls and restaurants (from Chandigarh and Tamil Nadu respectively) who are doing something big for the people and are proving that large-heartedness is important than money.
He concluded his radio program by urging people to celebrate the festivals and events by keeping the Covid-19 pandemic in mind.
