In startling news, a poet suffered heart attack while reciting poetry on stage at Pantnagar Agricultural University in Uttarakhand. The incident was captured in the mobile phone of an audience member sitting in the front row. The poet, Subhash Chaturvedi, was reciting poetry at the Pantnagar Kavya Mahotsav which was organised in Dr. Bibi Singh Auditorium of the Agricultural University in Udham Singh Nagar, when he suddenly collapsed on stage.
The poetry festival was organized by the National Self Defense Campaign in honor of the brave Indian soldiers. Many prolific poets were participating in the festival. In this episode, Pantnagar resident Subhash Chaturvedi was reciting poetry. Subhash had just read a few lines when he suddenly fell backwards. The organizers immediately took him to the University Hospital, from where he was referred to the District Hospital. There the doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Subhash's family, who was a resident of Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh, took him to his ancestral home at Lanka Fort, Mathura (UP). Subhash Chaturvedi was appointed as Assistant Accountant in Pantnagar University in the year 1974. In 2014, he retired from the university and built a residence in Jawahar Nagar. The center canteen in the university campus is operated by his son.
Regarding this incident, SP Manoj Katyal said that the police got information through social media that a poet had died of a heart attack while reciting poetry at a poetry conference. The family members have gone to Mathura along with the dead body.
