Mumbai on Monday has reported a major electricity supply failure in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) which has caused inconvenience to the thousands of natives. Many areas surrounding MMR are facing blackout, local and metro train services are disrupted, lakhs of commuters are stranded in Mumbai.
The development was confirmed by The Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) which majorly supplies power to the city.
“The electric supply is interrupted due to TATAs incoming electric supply failure. Inconveniences is regretted,” said BEST.
All the power companies -- MahaVitaran, Adani, Tata, and BEST -- confirmed the development but declined to comment on the reasons.
Reportedly, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Thane are facing the massive power outage from 10 am in the morning. Other places that have been affected in the city include Colaba, Mahim, and Bandra.

It has also come to light that the Mumbai Suburban train services have been disrupted due to the grid failure. The same has been confirmed by Central Railways Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO).
There have been multiple tripping of lines and transformer (Kalwa-padghe and Kargar ICTs) supplying power to the Mumbai system and consequently, the Tata Power's central grid failed. The outage has affected Mumbai and suburbs. The restoration process is underway and it will take 45 minutes to one hour to restore the power supply.
