Kannada film star Puneeth Rajkumar passed away after suffering cardiac arrest in Bengaluru on Friday. He was 46-year-old. Because of his massive fan following and large crowd gathering outside the hospital and his residence, the Karnataka government has issued a high alert in Bengaluru, owing to the situation.
Karnataka government has advised the security forces and police to tighten the security and an additional police force has been deployed near the hospital and residence of the late actor. Offices and shops have been shut across Bengaluru. Not confirmed yet, reportedly state government has ordered to shut theatres, across the city, immediately.

Puneeth was rushed to the Vikram hospital after having severe chest pain at 11:40 am and at that time he was non-responsive. As per Vikram Hospital’s statement, “Mr. Puneeth Rajkumar aged 46 years was brought to the emergency department of Vikram Hospital with a history of chest pain at 11:40 am, he was non-responsive and was in Cardiac Asystole and Advanced cardiac resuscitation has been initiated.”
Puneeth was fondly called Appu by his fans and it is hard for his loved ones to digest this heartbreaking news. When Appu was rushed to the hospital and was in a critical condition many of his fans gathered outside the hospital and prayed for his health and life. Fans took social media and one fan wrote, “Get well soon #PuneethRajkumar.” Another one said, “Wish you a speedy recovery, sir.”

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has reached the Vikram Hospital, where the late actor was admitted. For now, several ministers are present at the hospital. CM Bommai has cancelled his trip to Chikamangalore today as the news of Puneeth's death breaks.
