A day after triggering a major political controversy with her comment referring to Nathuram Godse as a "deshbhakt" (patriot) during a debate in the Lok Sabha, BJP MP Sadhvi Pragya has issued a clarification alleging that she is a victim of concerted propaganda against her.
In a tweet, Sadhvi Pragya said her comment, now expunged from the records of the Lok Sabha proceedings, was twisted and misinterpreted. Sadhvi Pragya said she used the word "deshbhakt" for Udham Singh, a noted revolutionary freedom fighter, and not Nathuram Godse as alleged.
"There are times when clouds of falsehood are so dark and powerful that it appears as if night has descended even though it's still day time. Despite this treachery, Sun doesn't lose its lustre. It continues to shine," she said in a tweet in Hindi.
Rubbishing the allegations against her, Sadhvi Pragya said, "The truth is all I did yesterday was to not tolerate the insults hurled at Udham Singh."
