In a crucial floor test in Goa assembly, the newly appointed Goa CM Pramod Sawant won the trust vote by a fair margin of 20 votes out of 36 seats in Goa.
There are total 40 seats in Goa assembly out of which two were already vacant and one Congress leader resigning to join BJP and death of Manohar Parrikar making the Panaji seat vacant as well.
The Goa assembly was in political turmoil after the death of CM Manohar Parrikar with Congress also staking their claims to form government with one more seat than BJP.
But BJP Supremo Amit Shah and senior leader Nitin Gadkari managed the negotiations well and were able to convince MGP and GFP and three independent MLAs to choose Pramod Sawant as the Chief Minister of Goa.
