Former President Pranab Mukherjee’s son Abhijit Mukharjee had denied the rumors of him leaving the Congress party. It was said that Mukherjee would be joining the Trinamool Congress. However, the recent tweets have reinforced the speculation of him switching the parties.
Abhijit Mukherjee, a former MP had tweeted “I have not said anything in this context to anyone!” However, now the tweet is deleted.
On the same day, he had said, “I remain in the Congress and reports that I am joining Trinamool pr any other party is not correct. But according to sources, Mukherjee had met with Trinamool Congress leader last week.
Abhijit Mukherjee is a former Lok Sabha MP and Congress Campaign Committee chairman during the assembly elections.

According to several reports, Mukherjee will be offered the Jangipur assembly seat by TMC. His father, Pranab Mukherjee had won the Jangipur parliamentary constituency twice as a Congress MP till he vacated it in 2012 to run for President.
Abhijit Mukherjee has win by-polls in the Jangipur parliamentary constituency after Pranab Mukerji vacated the seat. He lost to the TMC’s Khalilur Rahman in 2019.
Mukherjee is one of the big names suspected to be headed to the TMC. Along with him, Rajib Banerjee who had joined BJP just before the April-May state elections is also looking forward to TMC since Mamata Banerjee’s massive victory in the state elections.
Rajib Banerjee can be the next to join after Mukul Roy, who rejoined TMC after four years of being a BJP member.
