India’s drug regulatory agency has approved Entod Pharmaceuticals' PresVu eye drops. These eyedrops are said to be a boon for people suffering from presbyopia. Entod Pharmaceuticals have already got the approval from Subject Expert Committee of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) for launching PresVu Eye drops. As per reports, Entod Pharmaceuticals has also received approval from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) to market eye drops for the treatment of presbyopia
PresVu eye drops are specially made for individuals who are suffering from presbyopia and are forced to wear glasses while reading. PresVu eyedrops will be available in the pharmacies in the month of October. In the first week of the month, the eyedrops will be sold in the pharmacies at a cost of Rs 350.
CEO of Entod Pharmaceuticals, Nikhil K Masurkar, said, “PresVu has been created through years of research and development. Its approval by DCGI has marked a significant step in our mission to transform eye care in India. PresVu is a solution that can enhance the lives of millions by providing them with greater visual independence.”
Dr. Aditya Sethi said, “Presbyopia has long been treated with reading glasses, contact lenses and surgical measures. With PresVu, it can be treated effectively as the eye drop improves near vision within 15 minutes.”
Masurkar, Entod Pharmaceuticals said, “Most exports to the US are low-cost generics. We aim to change that by focusing on innovation and becoming a global leader in new developments, which we can then out-license to other countries. This is our future strategy.”
Presbyopia patients lose their ability to see nearer objects clearly and it is a common age-related condition that majorly affects people who are over 40 years. This condition is seen in almost around 1.09 billion to 1.80 billion people all across the world.
According to the manufacturers, they have used a unique formulation during the manufacturing process of PresVu eyedrops. The formulation used in the manufacturing process of the eyedrop eliminates the need of wearing glasses while reading. Additionally, it lubricates the eyes as well.
In reference to PresVu Eyedrops, Dr Dhananjay Bakhle has said, “The approval of PresVu is a promising development in ophthalmology. For patients with presbyopia, this eye drop offers a non-invasive option that can enhance near vision without the need for reading glasses.”
What is PresVu eyedrop's cost?
In a statement on Tuesday, the company said a single vial of PresVu eye drops will retail for Rs 345, as reported by a news portal. The vial is designed to last about a month.
