ASHISHPURI 
The newly appointed SSP of Kapurthala, Gaurav Toora while taking his charge stated that his primary focus would be to free the district from drug mafias and crimes, while delivering justice to the common people on a priority basis. He expressed that it was a matter of great pride for him to have the opportunity to serve the public in the historic city of Kapurthala. He further mentioned that he had previously served as ASP in Bhulath in 2017. 

Upon assuming charge, he said he would visit drug-affected villages such as Boota, Badshahpur, Toti, and Latianwala, along with various sensitive areas, to launch a large-scale campaign against the drug mafia with the cooperation of the public, aiming to free the youth from addiction. He also emphasized that the number of police teams in drug-affected areas would be increased, and there would be strict roadblocks to round up suspicious individuals.

He also promised to launch a major campaign against the bookmaking mafia, illegal liquor mafia, and fake travel agents across Kapurthala district, ensuring such individuals are put behind bars. He made it clear that corruption within the police department would not be tolerated under any circumstances. Complaints of bribery would be acted upon immediately, and strict action would be taken against corrupt police officers.

To curb nighttime crimes, he announced that the "Night Domination" campaign would be intensified, targeting criminal elements operating at night. He warned individuals involved in illegal activities that they would end up behind bars. 

It is here mentioned that Gaurav Toora an IIT Mumbai graduate with an M.Tech, had previously worked as an engineer at Indian Oil in Mumbai before joining the IPS service. He has served as SSP in Mansa and Tarn Taran, where he successfully arrested several major gangsters and a large number of anti-social elements. He is known for his strict and honest approach, making him one of the toughest IPS officers in the state. His wife, Palvi Toora is also a 2015 batch IAS officer and is currently serving as the Deputy Commissioner of Malerkotla.
