On 4th October, Anne Hathaway officially announced that she is returning back with the third installment of The Princess Diaries franchise on her Instagram handle. She wrote, “Miracles happen, the fairytale continues.” She also said her iconic dialogue ‘Shut up’ in her post.
Her Instagram post has raised the excitement level of the users and they are eagerly waiting to watch The Princess Diaries 3. This third installment is under development since 2022. It is directed by Adele Lim and produced by Debra Martin Chase.
Last year, she had given an update on the movie saying, “We’re in a good place. There’s nothing to announce yet. But we’re in a good place.”
Director Adele Lim shared his excitement and said, “As a diehard fan of the original Princess Diaries, I’m beyond excited to be a part of bringing the third iteration of this beloved franchise to life. We look forward to celebrating its core tenants of female power, joy and mentorship with audiences worldwide.”

The storyline of the movie revolves around an American teenager named Mia Thermopolis, who finds out that she is the heir to the throne of a European Kingdom of Genovia. The sequel of the movie titled Princess Diaries 2: The Royal Engagement was released in 2004.
Anne remembered her experience of The Princess Diaries and said, “I was so generously invited into that process by Garry Marshall, he valued my take on being a teenage girl and elevated me to such valued status on set that it never occurred to me on other sets that I didn’t have the same autonomy.”
