With Rahul Gandhi announcing to contest from two seats - Amethi and Wayanad, there are speculations of Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to contest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi seat as a joint-opposition candidate. This comes as a big news as of 'Mahagathbandhan' is concerned.
Priyanka's admission that she is open to contest elections from anywhere her party wants her to, after an earlier denial of contesting elections this time indicates more towards her introduction from the Varanasi seat. This statement was said for three times in her recent UP rally.
With Varanasi and Lucknow seats being prestige battles, ‘Mahagathbandhan’ is highly speculated to contest from these seats with a combined effort.
Modi had won the Varanasi seat by a huge margin of 2 lakh votes in 2014 Lok Sabha elections. He secured 5,81,122 votes in those elections.
