The Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Wednesday met a Dalit leader who is also known as a spoiler in poll arithmetic, Chandrashekhar Azad in hospital at Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The influential leader said that he will be contesting the elections against Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi.

Azad is a Dalit worker and lawyer who got arrested in Deoband for the violation of the poll code after he decided to take out a motor cyle rally without permission.

"I have come here to pay a visit and find out about his health. He is a young leader, he wants to speak, but this government is so arrogant, that it wants to crush a young leader. He should not have been arrested should be allowed to speak out. I like the josh in Chandrashekhar, that is why I came," Priyanka Gandhi was quoted as saying by the news sources.

What is interesting is that the Dalit support of Chandrashekhar Azad is totally different from Mayawati which is seeming to be a plus point for Congress.
