Jalandhar, January 19- Fulfilling the promise of Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to make state slum-free, the Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Jalandhar Cantonment Pargat Singh on Tuesday conferred property rights to three beneficiaries under CM Grant of Proprietary Rights to Slum Dwellers (Basera Scheme).
Presiding over an event, MLA Pargat Singh termed the program as a landmark step towards urban development by giving proprietary rights to every slum household occupying state government land in a slum of any city area on the date of notification of ‘The Punjab Slum Dwellers (Proprietary Rights) Act, 2020’, i.e., April 1, 2020.
He said Punjab is the first state in the country to launch such a program that aims to transform the urban slum areas with basic civic amenities including potable drinking water, street lighting, and roads to the slum dwellers.
Singh further asked the officials to ensure every slum dwellers get the benefit of the scheme which will make Jalandhar slum-free and everyone would lead a comfortable life
