The rape & murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata's state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has angered the entire India and the medical fraternity. OPD services have come to a standstill in many hospitals of the country including Delhi AIIMS, Patna AIIMS, Bhopal AIIMS, etc. Doctors of India are demanding justice and speedy trial by the CBI for rape & murder victim. Calcutta High Court has transferred the case to the CBI amid allegations that the Kolkata Police is trying to save someone. Reports are also surfacing that autopsy suggests that the trainee doctor was feared to be gang-raped.
In the meanwhile, West Bengal CM Mamata Banrejee has announced that she will hold a rally in the Kolkata rape & murder case. On the other hand, the BJP will hold a candle march to CM's residence. Not only this, but the saffron party is also demanding Mamata Banerjee's resignation. Notably, Mamata Banerjee's rally in the case came as a shock to many as not only she announce it after the case was transferred to the CBI but many are wondering whether they are holding a rally against her government. Addressing the media, West Bengal CM Banerjee said, "Within Sunday (August 18), CBI has to facilitate the hanging of the guilty and complete the entire probe. Our Kolkata Police has completed 90 per cent of the probe.."
TMC MP Derek O'Brien justified Banrejee's rally and posted a long note after people expressed questioned this move by the Trinamool Congress Supremo.
