Rajnath Singh chaired the all-party meeting held by the Centre on Saturday to brief all political parties regarding recent developments and future course of action. The parties have passed a resolution during the all-party meet, stating that they "strongly condemned" the heinous attack, while Congress' Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the Opposition parties backed the government and the security forces in the issue pertaining to national security.
The nation bid a teary goodbye to the 40 CRPF jawans on Friday who were martyred in the deadly Pulwama attack two days ago, when a suicide bomber had rammed his explosive-laden car into the bus of a CRPF convoy on Srinagar-Jammu highway. Mortal remains of the fallen soldiers were brought to their respective hometown on Saturday, where hundreds showed up to pay homage.
On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the three service chiefs as well as several other politicians, including Congress President Rahul Gandhi paid their respect to the martyrs at Palam airport in the national capital. Meanwhile, the NDA government has vowed to avenge the cowardly attack PM Modi had stated that the security forces have been given a “free hand” to decide on their response to the attack and that those who are responsible for the gruesome attack of Pulwama would definitely “pay a heavy price.”
