Punjab-based Indian Hockey Team players on Sunday landed at Amritsar Airport and got a rousing welcome from their family members. Families of the Indian Hockey Team players were eagerly waiting at Amritsar Airport from 7 am as their flight was scheduled at that time. However, after a delay of more than 1 hour, the Punjab-based Indian Hockey team players landed at Amritsar Airport. As they arrived at the airport, Punjab Hockey President, Nitin Kohli welcomed them on their home turf. Notably, Indian Hockey Team Players are returning home after winning historic bronze at the Paris Olympics 2024. The entire Indian Hockey Team landed at New Delhi Airport on Saturday and got a grand welcome there as well.
Initial videos showcased, families of hockey players putting garlands and hugging the Olympics heroes. Many people were also present to see a glimpse of the Indian Hockey Players. Sister of Indian hockey player Mandeep Singh was quoted by a newswire saying, "I am feeling very happy...The team worked very hard and played really well. Any medal won in the Olympics is like gold for us..."
The mother of Indian Hockey player Hardik Singh, Kamaljeet Kaur was quoted saying, "We are feeling very proud. I have no words to describe my feelings...We were supporting the team in Paris also and today we have gathered to welcome them..."
For the unversed, after landing at Amritsar Airport, a road show has been organised for four players hailing from Jalandhar- Manpreet Singh, Mandeep Singh, Hardik Singh Rai, and Sukhjeet Singh. Indian Hockey Team's roadshow in Jalandhar will start at 12:30 pm (IST).
