The meteorologists have warned the residents of Punjab about the increasing heat and temperature in the coming days. Amid the high temperature, the Indian Meteorology Department (IMD) has asked the residents to take all the necessary precautions to stay safe.
The Department has also mentioned that, as of now, there are no signs of relief.
Nowadays, the state has been reporting really high temperatures as the majority of the districts have recorded temperatures of more than 40°C. The highest temperature was reported in Patiala, where the mercury reached up to 41.3°C, and the district has been considered to be the hottest this year.
While explaining the possible chances of rising temperature, the meteorologist Pawneet Kaur Kingra from Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, mentioned that there is no expectation that the mercury will decrease as rain has not been forecasted in the coming days. However, she further warned that the condition might intensify - posing a threat to both humans and animals. In this regard, the experts have asked to take all the necessary precautions to avoid the heat.
She stated, “People should minimize outdoor activities between 12 PM and 3 PM when the sun is at its peak. Staying hydrated by consuming plenty of fluids is crucial during this period."
She further mentioned that humans, animals, and birds also require care. Meteorologist Kingra outlined that special arrangements must be made to provide them with water.
